iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation Class

IRest® is a contemporary, evidence-based form of guided meditation developed by Richard Miller, PhD, a psychologist and yoga teacher. This contemplative practice promotes experiences of relaxation, well-being, self-inquiry and a heightened awareness. It has been used in a variety of settings and has been shown to be effective in helping reduce stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, PTSD, and sleep disturbances.

Each class will focus on an aspect of the iRest® protocol, with an opportunity for discussion followed by a 35-40 minute guided meditation. At the conclusion of each meditation there will be time for questions and comments. Each participant will be given a handout and access to an iRest® recording to facilitate daily practice.

No previous meditation experience is needed. The meditation practice itself takes place in a comfortable seated or lying down position.

Workshop Leader: Ellen Kenemore, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice in Evanston. She completed the Level 2 iRest® Teacher Training and offers iRest® classes and individual sessions.
