Jamila Kekulah-Kinney
Pilates and Gyrotonic Instructor
Jamila has always been interested in movement and fitness from a young age. As an undergraduate dance student, she was first introduced to Pilates through a professor to assist in rebalancing her body due to dance related injuries. Since 2004, Jamila has been trained and certified in Pilates, GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS . Her specialized training includes GYROTONIC Therapuetic applications for the shoulder and pelvic girdle, GYROTONIC Level 2, TRX®, Bosu, Survive and Thrive™ and various pre and postnatal workshops. She is also an Authorized Pre-Trainer for GYROTONIC . As a teacher, Jamila utilizes her intuition and keen movement observations skills to assist clients to uncover their own movement potential.
Passionate about the learning process, Jamila is now studying Zen Shiatsu (a Japanese form of bodywork) to deepen her understanding of the anatomical and energetic body. Jamila holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Kent State University, a Masters of Arts degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Columbia College Chicago.
